Music Forum El Paso was formed in 1989 as The El Paso Choral Society, its members performing in private and for each other. From those beginnings, it evolved into a venue for all of classical performers. The performers did not expect, nor did they receive, compensation for their efforts. The Society soon made its concerts open to the public, charging no admission. Most concerts were held in area churches; in the late ‘90s, an agreement between El Paso Museum of Art and Music Forum El Paso meant that concerts could be held in its acoustically superior auditorium. Music Forum produces on average eight concerts per year, from solo piano, voice, and instrumental works to larger quasi-chamber orchestra concerts, mostly in the Museum, but some in area churches: St. Paul’s Lutheran, Western Hills Methodist, Trinity Methodist, Temple Mt. Sinai, St. Alban’s and others. With 200+ concerts over 25 years, Music Forum looks forward to another 25 years of providing a venue for El Paso’s classical musicians and free concerts for the appreciative El Paso audience. www.musicforumelpaso.org
